Puppytron: the News of Ryan Hipp

NEWS

I just opened up a shop for my GALLERY section:

The nice thing about running this thru etsy.com vs. simply having items for sale on my site is there is a "social networking" element built in to etsy.com, so more and more people will happen across my artwork more frequently there then the odds of them stumbling across my website...so I am hoping it actually generates traffic to my website.

If you or a loved one loves fun artwork, please check it out.

SCHEDULE

Friday, Dec. 5th
@ the Lakeland Library Cooperative's presenter showcase, featured guest.

Saturday Dec. 6th
@ the Bloomfield Township Public Library presenting "the Creative Spark" at 1pm, and "Making Comics" at 2pm.

SCHEDULE

I will be presenting "Comics in Your Library" at the Michigan Association for Media in Education (MAME) 2008 Fall pre-conference this Wednesday - updates to follow. Then I am on vacationnnnnnnn to a tropical paradise! Whoooo! I'll return to making the world more creative on November 16th.

SCHEDULE

"Write. Create. You!" 2008-2009 kicked off for the year, and my first school workshop for the year was at Martin Luther King Leadership Acadamy in Grand Rapids, MI. I think it was hands-down the BEST group of kids I have had for WCY sessions in 5 years. The level of creativity and enthusiasm was higher than normal, the kids were genuinely funny, and the coolest thing was the entire room of kids were already familiar with my Michigan book because it was coincidentilly prominently displayed in the media center - so when I started talking about it, all the kids pointed to the shelf. Very cool.

In other scheduling news, I will be going on a much-needed vacation from November 5th thru November 16th to a tropical destination. When I return, I will be concentrating on my upcoming touring season.

Stay tuned for details about dates, and new projects.

UPDATE

Summer is over, and Fall is here. and that means it is back-to-school time. And for me, that means the 2008-2009 school presentation season. If you are a teacher, librarian, or event planner, contact me for this season's presentation rates and availability.

New this year: Tell your mom and dad you want to take weekly illustration lessons. I will be taking on students interested in learning the art of comics/manga. You can learn and have fun with other kids with the same interests! Contact me for more information.

UPDATE

Summer has been moving pretty fast; it is hard to believe August is already here. Summer has been filled with many library and camp visits, and Fall school visits are already starting to be planned.

The interesting catch-22 of doing presentations is sometimes an author spends so much time traveling, that he or she is not able to sit down and get the creative spark charged up and productive. Just this month I had to make the hard decision to turn down attending the San Diego ComicCon as well as the SCBWI Annual L.A. conference.

But this realization has helped me come to a great decision - to spend the rest of summer working hard on getting as much new material finished as possible.
